We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy.
Last updated: August 2026. FAME Dentistry, 373 Scotland Street, Kinning Park, Glasgow G5 8QB, is the data controller responsible for your personal information under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
We collect information in two broad categories:
Enquiry and website data: name, email address, phone number, and any details you provide through our enquiry form, phone calls, or correspondence, along with technical data such as IP address and browser type when you visit our site.
Clinical and patient data: if you become a patient, we hold your dental and relevant medical history, treatment records, clinical images and scans, and correspondence with any referring or co-treating clinicians. This includes special category health data under Article 9 of the UK GDPR, which we process on the basis of providing healthcare and for reasons of substantial public interest in the provision of health services.
We use your information to respond to enquiries, provide dental treatment and advice, maintain accurate clinical records as required by our regulator, communicate with you about appointments and your care, and, where you have opted in, send you relevant updates. We do not use your health information for marketing purposes.
Our legal basis for processing enquiry data is our legitimate interest in responding to prospective patients, and taking steps prior to entering a contract with you. For clinical and health data, our basis is the provision of healthcare (UK GDPR Article 9(2)(h)) and, where relevant, your explicit consent given at consultation. Where you opt in to marketing updates, our basis is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.
We share information only where necessary: with referring or co-treating dentists and specialists directly involved in your care, dental laboratories, our practice management and payment systems, and regulatory or legal bodies where we are required to by law (including the General Dental Council). We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Some of the third-party services our website relies on for fonts and technical infrastructure are hosted outside the UK, including in the United States, and may process limited technical data such as your IP address when a page loads. Where this happens, we rely on providers who offer appropriate safeguards recognised under UK and EU data protection law, such as the UK's International Data Transfer Agreement or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. We do not transfer your clinical records outside the UK.
Clinical records are retained in line with General Dental Council and Faculty of General Dental Practice guidance, currently a minimum of 11 years from the date of last treatment for adult patients, and until a patient's 25th birthday for records created while they were a minor, whichever is longer. Enquiry data from people who do not go on to become patients is retained for no longer than 24 months.
Our website may use essential cookies required for the site to function, and, where enabled, analytics cookies to help us understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request erasure, where it is not required for clinical record-keeping obligations; restrict or object to certain processing; and request that your data be transferred to another provider (data portability).
You can exercise any of these rights, or ask us not to process your data for marketing purposes, by contacting us directly at +44 141 487 7770 or via our contact form. If you remain unsatisfied, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you. Every clinical decision is made by a qualified clinician.
We hold clinical and personal data in secure, access-controlled systems, and take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect it against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.
For any question about how we handle your data, or to exercise your rights, contact our practice directly at +44 141 487 7770 or via our contact form. Our practice manager handles all data protection queries on our behalf.
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
